Retaining walls are used to hold a slope and/or slow down water flow to prevent erosion by allowing it to percolate slowly into the soil. They can also add a lot of interest and appeal to your landscape if done well. When a tall wall is required to hold back a slope, we will break it down into terraces for aesthetic reasons.
The use of natural stone is no more expensive than the commercial-looking concrete block. Choices include large boulders, Flagstone in matched or random sizes for a tailored look, granite, brick, or mossrock in a variety of colors.
Dry-stacked rock or mortared walls can be determined by application and budget. In most cases, however, dry-stack is the preferred method due to the higher cost of creating a foundation and the extra time required for mortar work.
